New research reveals that a fertility treatment companion mobile app can significantly boost assisted reproductive technology (ART) outcomes for women of all age groups.
Embie Clinic has announced the results of a groundbreaking study demonstrating that its fertility treatment companion mobile app can significantly improve pregnancy rates for women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. The research highlights the benefits of using digital health tools in patient care and suggests that fertility clinics should consider adopting such tools as an adjunct to their existing treatments.
The study assessed the effectiveness of a fertility treatment mobile app in improving ART outcomes, including adherence tools, education, and community support. The study analyzed data from 6,449 IVF cycles reported by 5,067 users of the Embie mobile app between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022. The results showed that patients using the mobile app had significantly better ART outcomes compared to the reported national average across all age groups.
Compared to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) 2020 preliminary report of live birth rate (LBR) and stimulation cycle cancellation rates, the Embie mobile app users experienced lower cancellation rates and higher ongoing pregnancy rates at 20 weeks. The study found that the improvement in pregnancy rates was statistically significant (p<0.0001) across all age groups.
The Embie mobile app offers a range of tools and resources for users, including ART cycle protocol tracking, monitoring, eggs retrieved, embryo transfer, and pregnancy results, along with educational articles and community support. By providing personalized information and support, the app aims to empower users in managing their fertility journey.
Already the #1 Patient facing Fertility Treatment app in the world, Embie supports over 48K women in 120 countries.
While the study’s data is self-reported by patients and may not be as reliable as data collected by medical professionals in a clinical setting, the large cohort of users reduces the impact of individual errors. The authors also note that comparing live birth rates to ongoing pregnancy at 20 weeks may influence the outcomes at a low rate.
The wider implications of this research suggest that fertility treatment mobile applications can significantly improve ART outcomes for patients, and fertility clinics should consider incorporating such tools into their care strategies.
The research comes on the heels of Embie’s new product launch, now working directly with clinics to optimize and personalize the entire patient journey. Their fully connected clinical platform, launching this summer, closes the loop between the needs of the clinics and their patients in managing fertility treatments.
